About Us
The Victorious Overcomers Support Group
is a nondenominational Christian program based on the
Word of God. We do not label participants as drug addicts,
alcoholics or unsuccessful persons having addictive behaviors,
character defects or complete powerlessness. Such labels
are negative and cancel any hope of change and freedom.
The Bible says that "you are snared by the words
of your mouth" and "as he thinks in his heart,
so is he. " (Proverbs 6:2 and 23:7)
If a person confesses that he is an alcoholic
or drug addict, then positive change will never occur.
However, if a person calls himself by the name God calls
him (a Victorious Overcomer), and sees himself as God
sees him, then he allows God to bring change in his life.
"Our God calls things that are not as if they were."
(Romans 4:17)
A person acts in faith when he confesses
that he is a Victorious Overcomer, a conqueror, and a
brand new person in Christ. A person who is called a Victorious
Overcomer is looking forward to the hope of deliverance
and freedom from the addictions and compulsions.
The primary focus of the Victorious Overcomers
Support Group is deliverance from chemical substances
such as drugs and alcohol. However, the program will also
be of benefit to those who desire freedom from the control
of fear, anger, depression, anxiety, suicidal tendencies,
eating disorders, gambling, lust, pornography and any
other type of negative, destructive habit or stronghold.
The Victorious Overcomers Support Group's
definition of freedom from addictions and compulsions
is structured on the Biblical principal of transformation,
which is achievable only through a personal relationship
with the Lord Jesus Christ. The result will be the God-given
ability to live a life apart from dominating addictions
and compulsions.
"If any man be in Christ, he is a new
creation, old things have passed away and all things have
become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17)
It is not the desire of this program to
force this perspective on anyone but rather to offer a
unique Biblical alternative to addiction and compulsion
treatment that you may freely accept or reject. If you
are open to this perspective, we welcome you to apply
to the program.
Because the program is offered at no cost
to you, and is supported in total by the gifts of Christian
people, the following requirements are necessary. All
applicants must voluntarily commit to the following prior
to acceptance.Remain in the program until graduation (from
8-18 months).
- Make an honest effort to apply yourself
and faithfully attend all meetings.
- Maintain a cooperative attitude.
- Receive counsel and constructive correction.
- Your reason for attending does not come
from the courts, family members or any other outside
source. It is completely your personal decision.
The Victorious Overcomers Support Group
introduces the virtues of commitment, stability and discipline
in the lives of its participants. With this positive attitude
in place, Victorious Overcomers can then look forward
with hope to a productive life of victory and success.
The program requires Victorious Overcomers
to commit their attendance at the Support Group Meeting
along with three additional meetings per week. Commitment
schedules may be tailored to avoid employment conflicts. |
